Used when a flush fit head or a short “disappearing” fitting is desired in either a wood or metal post, there is a different version for each. “Fixed” fitting, requires a tensioning fitting at the other end. Wood version is only recommended in hardwoods such as IPE – not recommended in fir, pine or cedar.
