Used on wood posts at double posted corners where the cable is jumping across from one corner post to the other where the cable would otherwise cut into the wood. Used anywhere that the cable enters or exits the post at a angle to the post. One size works for both 1/8″ and 3/16″ wire. Made for a 1/4″ hole.
